Zumba fitness 2 for Wii – review and giveaway

You may remember me reviewing Zumba Fitness for Wii a while back, when I was working on being fit and svelte. These are not words that describe me now. Blimp describes me now, sadly, 6 months pregnant is not my best look.

I tried to keep up with the exercise for a while, and did run for the first 3-4 months, but then it started getting cold and I started to really struggle and somehow I just stopped. Now it’s a struggle to just walk around town, so when the offer to review Zumba 2 came on, I agreed with the caveat that it would be more of a comparative review than an exhaustive workout.

I’m pleased to say that this second version does indeed have improvements on the first. Or maybe I did learn something from doing the first one ;) Either way, my first attempt at it generated a 58% score, which seemed pretty good to me right now. (Please don’t feel the need to tell me how much better you can do!) I found this easier to follow along somehow – perhaps the avatar is just easier to understand than in the first one? The one thing that I did think was a shame was the lack of variety of low intensity workouts – most of them seem to be medium or high and I don’t really want to be going for high intensity workouts right now. I do understand that this isn’t really targeted at the heavily pregnant woman market though ;)

I like the slow v normal speed settings in the tutorial section (sorry, can’t remember if that’s new in this version or whether the original had it too) and it’s a great fun way of getting or staying active at home.

Now tomorrow when you check back there will be a giveaway, but I’m afraid rafflecopter has defeated my poor babybrain tonight. Or it might just be exhaustion, I’ve no idea. But do check back as I’ve copies of the game as prizes and it’ll be a quickfire comp too :)

  1. I find the Wii exercise programs quite challenging to use, but I think that’s in part because the TV faces our front window. I really don’t need the neighbours watching me make a fool of myself!

not sure if I can enter as I do not have facebook, but I have tried the zumba 1 for a while (it was lent to me by my daughter) found it very energetic and some of the dance moves where much easier to follow than others. If 2 is better may have to try that too :)

  5. I only recently came across the Zumba for the wii as I borrowed it off my friend. Needless to say after 30mins my heart was racing, my chest was hurting and I was sweating like a pig lol so I defo need to get my hands on a copy of that in the new year! So to be able to win the 2nd version would be awesome! Thanks for the opportunity :o ) xXx

Would love to try Zumba on the Wii as I’m afraid of making a fool of myself if I went to a class.

  8. Sara says:

I would maybe see if my 5 year old could play it with me or else the husband.

  9. I’m fascinated by zumba so although I don’t normally read let alone enter competitions, I’m keen to see what this one is like. Glad you understand it’s not for pregnant folk though!

  10. Elaine says:

I’m sure my three boys would find it hilarious to play along with me!

  11. Amber says:

I reckon my older kids would love joining in with this!

  12. Jo Dunlop says:

Oh I love zumba but didn’t realise it was ok to do it whilst pregnant. Can you really? I lost so many inches doing zumba (ones that I’d put on whilst training in martial arts in my 20′s and didn’t shift. I’m now 36 and only now back into my 12 size jeans. I am pregnant with #2 so hoping to keep the inches down and will start up my zumba again.

I’d love to try Zumba – will need something to shift my baby weight in a couple of months.

The other half, girl friends, the kids – anyone I can persuade to play!

  14. Hayley says:

My Mum, and it’d get competitive and end in an argument!

  15. Fiona Martin says:

I’d play with my husband or my daughter. Not tried Zumba yet but looks great and something I’ve fancied trying for a while.

  16. Geekmummy says:

Rather sadly I think I’d be playing on my own, as the geekdaddy would see this kind of thing as beneath him somehow I expect!

I’d play with my MIL and SIL over Christmas. I suspect NBH’s very young 80 year old Grandma would get in on it too!
