Got up to a massive pile of post today – fantastic pile of books for our continuing fundraising challenge from Random House Children’s books. They will be reviewed gradually – Small has taken one, Agent 21, to bed tonight ๐ There was also his unbirthday present in the form of some playmobil, a theory book for Big and some more review and competition stuff ๐
After I’d opened everything and oohed and aahed a bit, I got up and got dressed and failed dismally to find my stopwatch thing. Not finding it ate into my running time, so when I finally caved and borrowed dp’s phone, I set out quickly, meaning to knock out a quick three miles (ooh, get me ๐ ) but my hip hurt rather so I chose a different route, and did a reasonably gentle two miles instead, in a respectable 22 minutes. Home to find baby up and breakfasting, and have a quick row with Small about him getting organised while I tried to shower and get me and smallest ready to get out.
Here’s a surprise, we were not precisely late leaving the house, but we didn’t have any margin for error, and certainly not enough time to cope with being unable to find anywhere to park. Bleargh. Small’s appt appeared to be flexible though, so he went off to that, and I sat in a waiting room feeling incredibly uncomfortable while a health professional discussed extremely personal details of care with another parent, loudly and at great length. When the parent (and child) eventually left, the professional came over to apologise, but tbh, I didn’t feel that was anywhere near sufficient. And it made me think that I would never accept her working with any member of my family, as I wouldn’t know what she’d feel happy discussing or where. ๐
Then we came home, to discuss Big’s project with her and in time for me to partake in the #secretgoodness twitter party. The off centre discussion was more interesting to me than the ingredients tips tbh, parts about whether it’s reasonable to sneak ingredients in at all – I noticed a number of ppl thinking not. And the discussion much later as to how ppl felt about ending up taking part in something that they may not have realised at the time was sponsored. Interesting stuff. Food for thought you might even say ๐
And then we had lunch ๐
Not a lot of time then before Big, smallest and I went off down to the leisure centre for rookie lifeguard. Nice day for a walk anyway ๐ Couple of nice comments about carrying the baby on the way there and back, always good.
Oh so tired by the time I got back, so I was quite happy to sit for a while with a sleeping baby on my knee before it was time to make get up again to make tea. Family meals are lovely, but cooking from scratch is time consuming it has to be admitted.
After tea, bathtime for baby, and after bathtime, time to disinfect the bathtub. Thanks for that baby.
And now most of the house is asleep, and the baby is beginning to look tired. Here’s hoping for a peaceful night.
