love the idea of the fabric building blocks, seeing as our sewing machine is still out and the chidlren have a fascination for it, we may as well put it to some good use, thanks for the ideas.

I think this particular librarian was trying to be chatty and friendly tbh, and had just saved her 50p by finding her library card in the lost cards box.

She actually said something about managing debt but I can’t remember precisely what, which was a very reasonable thing to say, so yes, the smiley was appropriate.

If she’d said something similar to me, I probably would have been rather cross!

I know you put a smiley in there so I assume it wasn’t as annoying as it sounds, but really … I regularly pay fines at the libray and I’d be somewhat annoyed if I was ticked off for it!

re toymaker… it does say that one bit can be made at school and that, aparently, means “made by the teacher with a bit of input from the child” so yeh, a bit of hand holding is fine! Besides, BP himself said right at the outset that the idea of the profficiency badges (as they were called…) was that the members had a go and hopefully found something that they were good at, the badge was awarded for the efforts not the results, I’m rambling again aren’t I…
