Not our best day of the week.
Not quite sure what went on, but do know it ended with Big gaining herself computer and tv ban for the following day, due to attitudinal issues.
She recovered it slightly in the evening, and did some handwriting practise – I don’t know how she achieved it, but she got through three years of Montessori without learning how to form her letters. This means that her writing is untidy (not unusual in this family or for 9 year old girls generally) and also very slow (which gives problems whenever she wants to write anything, and puts her off writing generally).
Small of course also got through three years of Montessori without learning how to form his letters, but then again, I’ve yet to figure out precisely what he did get out of three years there. He is fairly, um, independent, in his learning style, and I suspect pretty much everything he has picked up he would have done regardless of the environment around him.
After handwriting practise, and some music appreciation in the form of listening to Meatloaf (I love my little boy, he’s a Bat out of Hell fan 🙂 ) Tim read to them. And discussed the fact that they would need to tidy their room the following day.
And that is pretty much all I can remember of Monday. Hm. Must try harder.

Angels handwriting is generally untidy, however seems to be improving dramatically. We had deliberatly left her to figure out forming letters as she is very very left handed and we learnt early on that we were going to have to leave her to it, as we are both right handed.
I did sit with her this week and suggest that she tried to keep her pen on the paper as much as possible when forming letters, because when she tried to rush writing the ‘sticks’ dont always meet up with ‘O’s’ to form ‘a’ etc…she listened and bless her tried it and announced that she found it was much easier that way……sorry, no help what so ever to you, but just wanted to share 😉
