Today I got up reasonably early, after Big brought me a cup of tea. We tidied, baked cakes (yes, that’s right, we, me and the children, *baked* cakes ;) ), prepared food, walked into town for extra supplies and then, eventually, entertained a number of family and friends for the afternoon.

There were games; pass the parcel and musical statues – Small won the latter, which went down very well :) There was party food, largely provided by Kirsty taking over the pizza making and feeding everybody in sight (thanks very much for that, much appreciated) and then the children played upstairs, largely without incident, while we managed lots of good chatting downstairs.

I have successfully provided Small with a (very belated) birthday party, and now that I know what a birthday party consists of, I won’t fail to provide it again.

And now I’m ludicrously tired, and attempting to welcome that as a positive symptom, and failing dismally as it’s difficult to get excited about being completed shattered. No silver lining without a cloud eh? Thanks all for gentle hoping, feels much better to be doing this in company than as previously all by myself.
