I am so glad

that I don’t work with computers any more. If two of us had just gone through the weekend Tim’s gone through and then I’d gone to work with computers as well, I think there would have been damage done. As it was, I spent the weekend being gloriously ill, from 4 am Sat morning through to 11 am Sun morning, and then did a lot of sleeping to recover, while Tim was manifestly unamused at the vagaries of computers.

Today, all should have been well. I went to school, got there on time (this is some kind of miracle, the children have been very uncooperative in my quest to leave on time recently) and was all ready to get settled in when A came up to me looking very perturbed and said she had to go as K and Ap (two of our staff, but also her daughter and her stepson’s girlfriend) had had an accident on the way in). So that was all hands on deck, with three members of staff down and non of us knowing how bad the accident was. Turned out to be one broken bone and one badly wrenched back, but somehow it set the tone for the day and boy was I fraught by the time I discovered we’d no email at school, and called Tim and discovered it was down to a lightning strike.

Figures.

In all the shenanigans over the past few days my blog has been summarily upgraded to version 2.5.something and I am so unimpressed that it isn’t true. This has got to be the first upgrade where things have gone wrong - my posts don’t know who’ve written them or what categories they should be in, I HATE the backend, nothing is where I left it, and we had to beat it with a stick to get it to let us login.

Strongly considering textpattern, although the pain of learning a new publishing system just doesn’t appeal at all, but I really don’t think I like where wordpress is headed. Why do ppl do this?

To top things off, Tim says he’s emailed me but I haven’t received anything from him since Monday (which makes me wonder if he’s received my couple of emails over the past couple of days!).

Anyway it’s yet another day when I’m not going to get to look at the computer again until late evening sometime (sorry) but Tim if you can re-send email via facebook or something that would be great.

Is it the WP upgrade that went wrong, or are there other things happening at the same time? I’m confused about why so much has gone awry with this server crash, I would have imagined that even if a recent post was lost, then once restored, things would be as they were before. Obviously not!

In any case, glad to hear you’re over your bug, Jax, and I hope your colleagues are doing as well as can be expected as well.
