Ooh, now I’m cross.

I have a new phone, you may recall the agonies I went through to get it. A little while ago the suretype predictive text thing turned itself off, and I’ve been having to multitap all sms, which has been driving me up the wall. I read manuals, searched the help on the phone, nothing.

Then I googled, and found this excellent link. It would appear that I have to be American to have suretype working.

Blackberry, I’m not impressed.

Not sure I understand. I just looked at a colleague’s pearl, it has language input choices that include:

    English UK
    English UK (multitap)
    English US
    English US (multitap)

The ones without multitap sure suretype. Don’t you have those choices?

Can I be put back on the webring please.
    Rachel.

nope, I don’t. Or not that I located this morning. I’ll take another look in a bit.

Now you see, what I had changed was only the top language option, and left the input language as was. Apparently that mismatch takes away your suretype.

Which I still think is pathetic.

I really can’t get a handle on predictive text – it never seems to predict quite what I want to write.

(also, gentle nudge re. H&H info. as I did a password reset and haven’t received the info., so I’m guessing it’s going to my old addy which doesn’t exist anymore, so atm I can’t access any of it).

  6. Jax says:

I sent you the details yesterday – am guessing that I may have your old addy too? Will dig through to see if I can find a different one?

  7. Alison says:

I guess if it doesn’t know which language you’re using it can’t predict so well?

Mine (I’ve got an LG Chocolate) works pretty well, except sometimes it doesn’t know what I want to put, and doesn’t offer me the “Spell?” option. Sometimes it does, so it does have that option, that’s something I don’t understand.

So what does happen when you “press and hold the Sym button down when you’re in typing mode” or “1. Press the Menu key within a text field
    2. Select “Enable SureType”"?
