My First Haircut

Small had his first proper haircut today. Previously, Jax and I have both had attempts at it, neither with terrific success. Jax’s effort failed, mainly because he agreed to have it cut because it was hanging in his eyes, and Jax was foolish enough to cut the front first….. at which point Small reckoned he could see again, so she must be finished. My effort was a little more successful, in that I got round most of it, but the result was, um, a bit ragged.

So, I took him to the hairdresser based at the hotel in the village and the very nice lady there, who has a two year old, talked to him about Thomas and Mr Potato Head and removed vast amounts of hair. I don’t think he is totally convinced by the result and Jax looked a bit upset when he presented himself, but once it is combed and he has been through the bath I think it will look just fine.

ah, bless, he does look gorgeous :) Mind you the hair doesn’t really make that much difference to his gorgeousness!

I think that’s the bit I don’t like tbh, I wanted him to still have his hair rather than getting the generic boy cut.

And it hasn’t stopped him brushing it sideways out of his eyes, even though it’s nowhere near them!

    Ah ((((Jax))))
It grows, I promise ;-) E was about the same age when he had his first haircut - takes a bit of getting used to.
He looks very beautiful still though :)

yes, I get it too, I cried buckets the first “proper” hair cut Aprilia had, I’m sure there’s a switch somewhere that turns off thier baby face with taht first cut!

Yeah, I get it too. D was born with stacks of hair, much softer than it is now. I gave him his first ‘trim’ at 8 months and still have the locks wrapped in tissue with a date on them. His first cut at a barbers was heartbreaking (for all of us, he hated it most, his tears and snot mingled with the cut off hair) and now I do it with clippers only when it *really* needs it. If it wasn’t so thick and prone to bushiness I’d let him grow it long.
Small still gorgeous, particularly in that top which I fondly recall D wearing the slightly larger version of. :)

    Awww. He looks gorgeous.

I actually think the earlier cuts are in almost all possible ways the most difficult. With thicker hair there is more room to cover mistakes and since those first few disasters, we mostly cut each other’s hair..and finding that we could do this was actually very similar to discovering we could HE! We COULD do it!!

He is very cute and you will get used to it. I haven’t been brave enough yet. Master R even asks for a ponytail now!

I’m not going to get used to it you know, it’s going to grow. And then it isn’t going to ever be cut that short until he can pay for it himself!
