BBC condemns Clarkson ‘gay’ jibe

Sorry but I think this is ridiculous. Complaining about Jeremy Clarkson’s derogatory use of a term for homosexual people is ludricous, or even ludicrous.

It is not Jeremy Clarkson’s remarks that are offensive, it is Jeremy Clarkson. All of him and everything about him. I know a lot of people find him entertaining and funny, Jax loathes him, I find him merely annoying and would be quite happy if the BBC dispensed with his services, let’s face it Top Gear is pretty pointless now, just a bunch of twonks racing about in fast cars 99.9999% of the population cannot afford and only 1% will buy.

Yes, well, i’ve ranted rather vexcellently on my blog, so come over and snort at it. You can come down on either side, i’m too enraged to care!!!!

hello,i have’nt blogged for a while but i have been reading everyone elses. i noticed mine has been taken off the blog ring and i’m not sure why, could you please let me know why??thanks!!

  3. Gill says:

Clarkson is a distant relative of ours – the family oddball! Makes the rest of us look very normal and conventional, huh? ;)

  4. Claire says:

Utterly ridiculous – that’s the format of the show, ppl should know this by now and thus aware that sometimes comments made maybe offensive to some.

I must be the odd one out here as I love JC, I think he’s hilarious (as do small person and OH); we all watch Top Gear frequently, its very amusing and much funnier than many so-called comedies. As with anything, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

No that’s fine Claire, if you like it, by all means watch it. I will, of course, blame you every time it clutters up the schedule. :-)

You are right on the mark though, they have hired him specifically because he is offensive, so it is a little unfair for the BBC to complain about it. The responsibility and blame rests with the people who deliberately schedule stuff like that.

    Gill, you underestimate yourself. :-)

  6. Tim says:

Kerry, you will have to speak to the management, but I am guessing that the reason you have been taken off the ring is because you haven’t blogged for a while.

  7. Sarah says:

I’m with Claire, we all like Top Gear here too … sorry Tim & Jax!

  8. Jax says:

I am amused by the fact Amazon is displaying “The new thought police” against this comment thread.

  9. chris F says:

Isn’t most TV pointless anyway? I don’t esp. like JC – but I suspect most of his annoying-ness is for effect – it is very much his screen persona now. I don’t think he deserves to be taken seriously.

I do find TG quite entertaining when I come across it though. Cars are just too boring to make sensible programs about them.

  10. Tim says:

Pointless? I thought the point was entertainment – I just don’t find the man entertaining. You are right, Clarkson has identified and effortlessly fills a market niche for boorishness.
