Oh, dear. My hopes for the Home Educating Rights petition are rather deflated. I found this joke - which has three times the number of signatories!

Our Mary Poppins DVD is very old, and you have to turn it over halfway through! I always took the "stupid" bit as referring to the not letting women vote, rather than any more general comment - might be a reasonable explanation anyway if needed!

LOL! I like your book/food analogies- have you got one for fish and chips?
I just quietly cringed through the rainbow magic phase, deciding that any reading was good, plenty of time to develop better taste in books! I just see it as the same as wanting to wear pink frilly stuff, but it's all practice. We're onto horsey stuff now- basically anything that involves horses will do, so at least that leaves more scope ;-) Joy often reads books about fairies and other, (probably) awful stuff by Enid Blighton! And also Jacqeline Wilson, which is a bit gritty realism, but I am just so glad that she actually wants to read anything.
I dont think they do *any* book reading at her school!

lol @ the sprouts ;)

I remember when we first got a tv having been without one for a while, I was 8 months pregnant with Abbie, and we went to the shop to choose a couple of videos to buy, and Mary Poppins was one of them, simply *because* it was so long and I wanted to maximise the amount of time Anna and I could sit and do nothing for!
