This feels good. I went outside for a bit, and released my fruit trees from their captivity - not sure that being kept in plastic bags in the garage has been good for them, and not sure that the contrived new homes for them are going to be much better - must find much bigger pots very soon! I enjoyed being outside, I always forget how much I enjoy it given how much effort it is to find clothes that two picky children will accept for outdoor wear, coordinating all the effort and so on and so forth.
And now Big is in meltdown, having been unable to wait sensibly at the door while I dealt with Small’s filthy wellies, so the afternoon is not shaping up to end well. Oh well, nearly bedtime. Tomorrow it will be 6 o’clock at this time

At least we now have 2 radio controlled clocks there is no excuse for getting the time wrong in the morning

You think BST is silly? Back in Nov 2004 we got caught out with the clocks changing in New South Wales but not in Queensland.
Imagine Scotland being a different time zone, or perhaps a better example - Yorkshire and upwards. Then you would have to drive to work in a different time zone!
Here, we really need it to be BST all the year round. Don’t suppose it won’t be called that then though.
I don’t see that having Scotland in a different time zone would be so much of a problem. Or Yorkshire for that matter. I’m sure we’d get the hang of it. But changing clocks twice a year and confusing a country seems pointless - I’ve yet to hear anyone be in favour of that process.
Emma was out for almost 2 hours yesterday and only came in when I pointed out that it was sprinkling. She wanted to tell the sun to come out from behind the cloud so the ground would warm and the grass would grow

The obvious solution is a permanent half-hour difference between BST (British Standard Time) and CET.

Can’t say it bothers me, and it’s not really that confusing is it? I think having Scotland or Yorkshire in a different time zone would take an awful lot more getting used to, lol!
I’d rather have BST all year than GMT all year if it came to that.
Why don’t you just get up earlier then? much simpler than fooling around with the clocks.

See, there is no downside to this!
The problem is not so much the change over to and from daylight saving but our rigidity in our routines to particular numbers on the clock. We are happy to stay up into the evening after the sun has set, but we do not like to get up earlier by the clock even when the sun provides more daylight time for us.
I would suggest if we really are serious about energy conservation, we start considering several daylight saving shifts during the year and taking best advantage of the early sunrises during the summer months.
In that case,…. go to bed ….

Wow. I hadn’t even thought about the problem in terms of energy conservation! I’ll have to check what the politicians have had to say on that aspect. They debate daylight savings every year.
