Call me pedantic

Just received this in an email advert:

Surely if it’s acrylic, they shouldn’t be selling it as Knitting *Wool*?

Yes, I know it’s a tiny bit ot for this blog’s usual concerns, but I’ve got two children, resolutely determined not to be sleepy, not so quietly trashing the living room, while Tim is away at his dad’s overnight. Hohum.

    have to agree with you, either it’s wool or it’s acrylic yarn but not acrylic wool!

    I suppose ‘wool’ has become the generic term for the stuff you use to knit with, like ‘hoover’ has become the generic word for a vacuum.

    You really are doing *anything* to ignore what the children are doing, aren’t you? ;)

    Yes, it is called yarn, not wool.. not a very good advert…But then I do have a degree in knitting, so dont start me…;o)

    It’s like that car ad, offering to sell it for “10,995 on the road”.
    10,995 what? It doesn’t specify. Could be beans, pennies, pebbles… or balls of acrylic yarn. It doesn’t say they have to be pounds. I’m quite tempted to put this to the test and turn up at one of their showrooms with 10,995 of something to exchange it for a car.
